Guidelines for authors

1. Types of Manuscripts

The types of scientific manuscripts are:

1.2. Original Articles
1.3. Review Articles
1.4. Clinical Case Report

2. Originality
Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original and unpublished. Authors must download and send this Affidavit, confirming compliance with this and other criteria, to the following email address: revistamedica@hospitaltacna.gob.pe

3. Languages
The journal publishes articles in Spanish and English.

4. Format
Submissions must be sent as a text file with the extension DOC or DOCX (MS Word), using Times New Roman 12-point font, 1.5 line spacing, and without restrictions (fully editable). Tables (Word or Excel) and figures accompanying the text, if applicable, must be submitted in an editable format, not as images. Images or photographs must be submitted at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi in JPG format.

6. Manuscript Structure

All manuscripts submitted to “Research and Innovation: Scientific Nursing Journal” must adhere to the structure suggested by the ICMJE, which can be found at: http://www.icmje.org/recommendations/browse/manuscript-preparation/preparing-for-submission.html

Original Article (Research Article)

These are research findings that develop a topic of interest to the journal with rigor, originality, relevance, and timeliness. Follow this format:

- Abstract and keywords in two languages
- Introduction
- Materials and methods
- Results
- Discussion
- Conflicts of interest
- Acknowledgments (optional)
- References

Points to consider:

- The title page should include the title of the work in Spanish and English (maximum 20 words), the author's name(s), institutional and academic affiliation, professional title and academic degree; and the name, address, telephone number, and email address of the corresponding author.

- The title page should include the title of the work in Spanish and English (maximum 20 words), the author's last name(s) and first name(s), each with institutional affiliation, professional title and academic degree, city and country of residence, and ORCID. Also include the name, address, telephone number, and email address of the corresponding author.

- The abstract must be in both Spanish and English and should have the following structure: objective, materials and methods, results, and conclusions, with a maximum length of 250 words. At the end, include 3 to 5 keywords, using the BIREME Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS).

- Tables, graphs, and figures should be placed at the end of the text on a separate page with the corresponding title; they should not be inserted within the text, and a maximum of six (tables, figures, or graphs) should be included.

- Follow the Vancouver style. Aspects to consider: maximum 12 pages.

Review Article
Evaluations will be carried out by experts in the field. The Editorial Board may extend invitations to write reviews. They must include a comprehensive, objective, and systematic exploration of current information on a specific topic of interest in health. Follow this structure:

- Unstructured Abstract
- Keywords
- Introduction
- Methodology
- Results
- Discussion
- References

Considerations: 250 words in the abstract, 5 pages or more, 4 figures or tables, and a minimum of 20 references.

Case Reports
These articles report on specific instances of interesting phenomena. One objective of case reports is to make other researchers aware of the possibility that a specific phenomenon may occur. This type of study is often used to report nursing care in a particular situation that warrants dissemination.
They have the following structure: Unstructured abstract, keywords, introduction, case development, discussion, and references. The case development can be structured following the steps of the Nursing Care Process.
Considerations: 150 words in the abstract, a minimum of 5 pages, a maximum of 5 figures or tables, and a minimum of 15 references.

Letters to the Editor
This section is open to all readers, who may submit their questions, comments, or critiques of articles published in the last two issues. Up to three authors are allowed, with a maximum length of two pages. Authors whose work has been reviewed are permitted to submit a reply. Communications will also be accepted.
