Objective: To determine the factors associated with the consumption of psychoactive substances in users attended at Community Mental Health Centers in Tacna during 2021 and 2022. Materials and Methods: This was an explanatory, cross-sectional, and retrospective study. The entire population of users attended at the Community Mental Health Centers of South Cone and North Cone of Tacna was included, totaling 120 individuals. Medical records were reviewed, and data was recorded on a form designed by the author. Chi-squared statistics were used for the analysis, considering an association when p < 0.05. Results: Eighty-five percent presented substance dependence, and 15% showed harmful use. The factors significantly associated with substance use were sex (p = 0.029), place of care (p = 0.007), history of family violence (p = 0.039), and having friends who use substances (p = 0.003). Conclusion: The factors associated with substance use in Tacna were personal: sex, place of care, family history of violence, and social factors: friends or acquaintances who use substances.
