Abstract

Objective: The present study aimed to compare Patient Safety Culture Version 2.0 among nursing staff in the surgery and emergency services of the Hospital Hipolito Unanue de Tacna during 2023. Methodology: The study was framed within a quantitative approach, of a basic type, and with a hypothetical-deductive method. The data collection technique used was the census survey, using a questionnaire adapted by the authors based on the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (SOPS) Version 2.0. A total of 49 nursing professionals were surveyed, 18 from the surgery service and 31 from the emergency service. Results: In the surgery service, it was found that 27.78% of the nursing staff had a regular level of patient safety culture, while 22.22% had a low level and another 22.22% had a very low level. On the other hand, only 16.67% of the staff in this service showed a very high level and 11.11% a high level. In the emergency service, the results indicated that 25.81% of the respondents had a high level of patient safety culture, followed by 22.58% with a regular level and another 22.58% with a low level. 16.13% of the staff in this service had a very high level and 12.90% had a very low level. Conclusion: Regarding the comparison between both services, the research concluded that there is no significant difference in patient safety culture between the nursing staff of the surgery service and the emergency service of the Hospital Hipolito Unanue de Tacna during the year 2023 (p-value = 0.708).
