Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude toward vertical birth among obstetrics professionals at the Hipólito Unanue Hospital in Tacna during the year 2024. Materials and Methods: A non-experimental, analytical, and cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach was conducted. The population consisted of 42 obstetrics professionals working at the hospital, included through census sampling. The level of knowledge was evaluated using a 20-question multiple-choice questionnaire, and attitude was assessed through a 15-item Likert scale. Statistical analysis included frequencies, percentages, Fisher's exact test, and the calculation of Odds Ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval. Results: A total of 57.1% of the professionals presented a medium level of knowledge, 38.1% a high level, and 4.8% a low level. Regarding attitude, 88.1% of the participants showed a favorable disposition toward vertical birth. No statistically significant association was found between the level of knowledge and attitude (p = 0.20). However, obstetricians with adequate knowledge showed a higher probability of having a favorable attitude compared to those with low knowledge (OR = 9.0; 95%, CI: 0.47–173.34), although this relationship did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.226). Conclusions: A medium level of knowledge and a favorable attitude toward vertical birth predominated. Although no significant association was found between the variables, the results suggest that strengthening training in humanized birth could encourage its implementation in clinical practice.
