Socials kills and risk behaviors in adolescents from the Educational Institution Jorge Chavez, Tacna-2020

Objective: To determine the relationship between social skills and risk behaviors in adolescents at I.E. Jorge Chávez in the city of Tacna in 2020. Materials and Methods: A quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive, and correlational study of a cross-sectional type was conducted, as data were analyzed from the variables collected at a specific time in the corresponding population. The sample consisted of 220 students. The instruments used were the Social Skills Questionnaire and the Risk Behaviors Questionnaire, applied with due respect to ethical considerations and obtaining informed consent from the participants. Results: Regarding the dimensions of risk behaviors, it was observed that 47.3% of adolescents presented a high level of aggression, 65% a low level of tobacco consumption, 37.7% a high level of alcohol consumption, 93.2% a low level of drug consumption, and 73.6% a low level of early sexual initiation. Regarding the dimensions of social skills, 44.5% of adolescents presented a high level of assertiveness, 25% an average level of communication, 29.1% an average level of self-esteem, and 22.3% an average level of decision-making. Conclusion: A significant relationship was found between social skills and risk behaviors in adolescents (p = 0.000 < 0.05).
